About The Position

The Operations Planner is responsible for approving, releasing, and monitoring the status of production and purchase requisitions. This role involves developing and providing input to the manufacturing build plan, establishing priorities, and communicating with support functions while actively participating in problem resolution. The planner will coordinate with shop departments to ensure proper inventory levels, maintain knowledge of plant operations and equipment design for effective planning, and release work orders according to system demand. They will manage system-recommended messages, maintain work order dates to meet organizational metrics, and keep the Planning Manager informed of changes affecting part lead times to ensure system accuracy. Additionally, the role requires regular monitoring and updating of safety stock levels in the system and adherence to all NOV company and HSE policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Machine shop manufacturing and purchasing a strong plus
  • High school/bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a planning routing function
  • Background in manufacturing and/or operations required
  • Ability to see overall strategy and execute at the detail level
  • Minimum of 3 years in manufacturing operations
  • Broad knowledge and experience in Manufacturing processes, work order release, routing and BOM
  • Above average skills in ERP systems and communication
  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast paced environment with constantly changing priorities
  • General knowledge of engineering prints, supply chain and material management

Nice To Haves

  • APICS or CPM certification desired
  • Knowledge and experience in JDE system or equivalent a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Approve, release, and monitor status of production and purchase requisitions
  • Develop and provide input to manufacturing build plan
  • Develop priorities and communicate support functions while taking an active role in problem resolution as required
  • Coordinate with all shop departments to ensure proper inventory levels
  • Maintain knowledge of plant operations and equipment design in order to plan properly
  • Review and release work orders per the system demand, manage the system recommended messages, as well as maintain work order dates that adhere to the metrics for the organization
  • Keep Planning Manager aware of the applicable changes that would affect the lead time of the parts so that the system can be kept up-to date
  • Regularly monitor and update safety stock levels in the system
  • Comply with all NOV company and HSE policies and procedures
