About The Position

The World Bank Group (WBG) is seeking a motivated Operations Officer to support the Umbrella Facility for Gender Equality (UFGE) Secretariat and the broader Gender Department in implementing the Gender Strategy objectives. This role involves providing monitoring support for the UFGE's portfolio, extracting and disseminating knowledge and lessons learned, engaging with implementing teams, contributing to reporting (including semi-annual updates and maintaining results frameworks), managing partner relations, and playing a key role in coordinating the UFGE Annual Report. The position requires deep familiarity with gender-focused activities such as knowledge generation, policy interventions, technical assistance, and research. Strong attention to detail, excellent writing and data analytics skills, familiarity with WBG trust fund policies, and strong relationship and knowledge management skills are essential.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in economics, finance, business, or a similar field relevant to the World Bank Group’s mission.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrates significant experience in managing effective relations with a wide range of stakeholders (Governments, international organizations, multilateral and bilateral development agencies).
  • Ability to address a range of issues related to women’s economic empowerment and gender equality and its relationship to economic development.
  • Solid analytical skills.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with a broad range of gender-focused activities of the type supported by UFGE, including knowledge and evidence, policy interventions in the public and private sector, technical assistance and research.
  • Ability to think strategically and to rapidly analyze diverse information from varied sources.
  • Familiarity with World Bank Group trust fund policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Experience with trust fund donor relations and reporting; monitoring and evaluation and results framework; World Bank Group trust fund systems including the trust fund portal and fundraising portal.
  • Solid track record and operations experience in preparation of World Bank Group grants and significant understanding of World Bank Group’s operational processes, procedures, and corporate requirements.
  • Demonstrates ability and the necessary organizational skills to take initiative, personal ownership, and accountability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, balance competing demands, and achieve agreed-upon results.
  • Demonstrates political awareness and ability to diplomatically handle sensitive situations with target audiences and to otherwise cultivate effective, productive client relationships/partnerships.
  • Excellent oral and written communications and editing skills.
  • Strong command of English.
  • Ability to deal sensitively in multi-cultural environments and build effective working relations with clients and colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of other languages would be a plus, especially French and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual UFGE reporting process and semi-annual updates to ensure high-quality and thorough reporting with accurate data from UFGE implementing teams, providing guidance on reporting and program effectiveness.
  • Lead the aggregation, analysis, and reporting of results, including through reports to the UFGE Partnership Council, Gender Leadership Council, the UFGE Annual Report, the UFGE results dashboard, and ad hoc reports.
  • Support the reporting systems, including the results and risk frameworks, the results database, the UFGE dashboard, and other data capture and visualization mechanisms.
  • Lead UFGE learning efforts designed to surface and share experiences across the UFGE grantee network and with other stakeholders to improve the design and implementation of innovative approaches.
  • Liaise with implementing teams and other stakeholders on key themes to identify opportunities for deeper collaboration and impact, identifying relevant experiences in the UFGE portfolio and building consensus for developing and sharing lessons.
  • Support UFGE Programs, including the Gender Strategy Fast-Track Country Initiative, to create and coordinate a community of practice for shared learning and dissemination of results.
  • Provide other ad hoc support to the UFGE Secretariat and Gender Department as required.
