About The Position

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking an Operations Mission Engineer – Level 2 or Level 3 to join their team in Aurora, CO. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. This is a highly visible position that includes frequent interactions with customers and working on a diverse team. The role involves supporting integration and coordination within customer and user communities and the program’s operations departments, enabling information flow throughout disparate organizations to identify opportunities to leverage system capabilities to solve unique user challenges. It also includes initiating conceptual studies to optimize nominal and emerging utilization of system data process capabilities, developing techniques to implement these capabilities, and developing recommendations for addressing operational shortfalls, including improvements for system data processing. The engineer will troubleshoot end-to-end data problems, provide assessments and identify error sources in the end-to-end system, and develop processes and tools to minimize system errors. Additionally, they will perform ongoing system performance monitoring, investigate unexpected findings, support system calibrations and test execution, provide an interface to factory subject matter experts for new system deliveries and upgrades, and provide feedback to factory engineering on operational priorities and objectives. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within diverse, cross-functional teams, including partnerships with contract personnel, ensuring seamless integration and shared ownership of objectives. They must be self-motivated, capable of operating under general direction, and adept at independently determining and developing approaches to complex situations. This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. This position can be filled at either a Level 2 or Level 3.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of digital signal processing and communications theory fundamentals
  • Excellent written, presentation, coordination, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint to execute responsibilities as needed within the role (presentations, internal/external communications, data collection, etc.)
  • For Level 2: Approved STEM Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of professional experience – OR – Approved STEM Master’s degree with 0 years of professional experience.
  • For Level 3: Approved STEM Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Approved STEM Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – Approved STEM PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance, SCI access, and complete a Counterintelligence Polygraph examination prior to start

Nice To Haves

  • Applicable operations and maintenance program experience (payload systems engineering, integration and test, and/or TIP)
  • Familiarity and practical use with MATLAB, Python, and Perl scripting languages
  • Familiarity with Linux
  • Active in scope DoD Top Secret Clearance & SCI Access

Responsibilities
