Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking a Systems Architect Engineer – Level 2 or 3 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. This requisition can be filled at a level 2 Systems Engineer or a level 3 Principal Systems Engineer. Additionally, this position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance at the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future. Furthermore, please be aware that this position is contingent upon capturing program award(s) and obtaining and maintaining associated business and/or customer funding. This role is for a System Architect who will operate within a study, capture, or program execution effort and focus on driving consistency and alignment across technical thread capabilities to define a complete architecture solution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 2+ years of engineering experience OR Master's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline (for Level 2)
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 5+ years of engineering experience OR Master's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 3+ years of engineering experience OR PhD in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 1+ year(s) of engineering experience (for Level 3)
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) at time of application and prior to start date, and have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain an active SCI within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering processes including architecture and requirements development and interface definition

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding and experience with Model Based Systems Engineering, Cameo Enterprise Architect, and SysML modeling (or equivalent)
  • Understanding and experience with modeling and simulation approaches and tools
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) clearance along with active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date

Responsibilities

  • Conducting trade studies to evaluate design decisions and defining the resulting architecture.
  • Allocating and validating requirements to develop specification products.
  • Support modeling and simulation tools for performance analysis and evaluation of thread capabilities.
  • Technical leadership for managing space and ground systems integration.
  • Leveraging MBSE tools, methodologies, and workflows to develop, maintain, and validate system models as the technical baseline for the effort.
  • Define and document the system design, requirements, interfaces, and mission/operational concept within the MBSE tool suite.
