About The Position

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) provides highway safety and security through excellence in service, education, and enforcement. With a workforce of approximately 4,500 employees throughout the state, the Department is leading the way to A Safer Florida through the efficient and professional execution of its core mission: the issuance of driver licenses, vehicle tags and titles, and operation of the Florida Highway Patrol.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Directing, managing and evaluating the day-to-day operational activities of Bureau of Issuance Oversight’s motor vehicle (title and registration) issuance, direct issuance, motor vehicle stops, motor vehicle refunds, personalized license plate review and the issuance of specialty license plates (voluntary contribution oversight), fleet issuance oversight, transporter plates and motor vehicle modernization coordination.
  • Developing and implementing operational plans, policies and procedures.
  • Managing the implementation of legislative mandates and new or pending motor vehicle initiatives.
  • Performing liaison duties and responding to inquiries from the Executive Office of the Governor, the Legislature, the Courts, or members of the public regarding operations of the bureau.
  • Coordinating and monitoring motor vehicle modernization efforts to include the development and implementation of applications and automated management information systems.
  • Managing, monitoring and evaluating program area quality and productivity, as well as, the activities of subordinates and subordinate supervisors.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance and the proper and efficient collection of revenue.
