About The Position

This position is responsible for planning and coordinating activities related to background checks as required by Florida Statutes. The role involves all supervisory duties including hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action. The supervisor will oversee staff responsible for conducting background checks by assigning work, reviewing progress, and assessing performance. They will also confer with personnel to ensure the successful functioning of newly implemented systems or procedures and ensure staff are trained and prepared to process background screening. Additionally, the position requires reviewing outgoing letters and monthly invoices for accuracy, grammar, and spelling, and ensuring proper legal review of additional information related to criminal history findings to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The role also involves evaluating and analyzing problems and procedures, documenting findings, preparing recommendations, and assisting with the implementation of new systems, procedures, or organizational changes. Interpretation of related laws, rules, policies, and/or regulations is also a key responsibility, along with other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of computer databases.
  • Knowledge and use of the compliance management system and licensing system.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, and government rules & regulations.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.

  • One year leadership experience.
  • Two years professional experience in reviewing and auditing documents for specific criteria.
  • Two years professional experience in applying state and federal statutes, rules, or policies and procedures related to background screening regulations.
  • A valid Driver's License.
  • Participation in direct deposit.
  • Satisfactorily complete a background investigation.
  • Fingerprinting.
  • Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.
