About The Position

The Operations Manager directs and coordinates the daily activities of the facility and warehouse to ensure that the quality and accuracy of shipping and receiving of products and the provision of services meet and exceed customer expectations. This role involves managing, mentoring, and motivating supervisory personnel, collaborating with leadership and engineers, and overseeing the supervision of facility and warehouse Team Members. The Operations Manager is responsible for coaching, training, and developing Team Members and front-line managers, monitoring operations for efficiency and effectiveness, and driving continuous improvement in operational systems, processes, and policies. Key responsibilities include directing quality control, determining staffing levels, conducting performance evaluations and disciplinary actions, managing delays, facilitating mill shut-downs, and participating in various inspections and assessments. The role also involves interviewing and recruiting, coordinating waste stream processes, filling in for absent supervisors or GMs, driving a forklift, and participating in administrative functions related to staffing and payroll. Additionally, the Operations Manager handles customer complaints, settles disputes, resolves grievances, champions core business values, ensures reliable attendance, and performs all duties in conformance with safety and security standards.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of previous work experience in a high volume, fast-paced warehouse and production environment.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Green Belt.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Access, and Word).
  • Ability to master internal computer systems that include SAP.
  • Must be able to complete Holman’s forklift certification program.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates daily activities of the facility and warehouse to ensure that the quality and accuracy of shipping and receiving of products and the provision of services meet and exceed the expectations of our customers.
  • Reads, understands, and ensures that appropriate policies, procedures and SOPs are being adhered to by all Team Members and managers.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of company policies, procedures, goals, and objectives, conferring with Company and customer officials, as necessary.
  • Manages, mentors, and motivates supervisory personnel to handle Team Member’s concerns, complaints, and developmental needs.
  • Collaborates with leadership, engineers, quality representatives, and Core leaders to ensure services meet and exceed their expectations.
  • Manages team engagement & services among customers.
  • Oversees supervision of facility and warehouse Team Members.
  • Coaches, trains, and develops hourly Team Members and front-line managers.
  • Monitors and audits operations to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed services.
  • Audits the shift supervisors' daily LSW (Leader Standard Work).
  • Review daily production schedules for the departments in the warehouse and production area.
  • Initiates, innovates, and drives continuous improvement in the facility and warehouse operational systems, processes, and policies.
  • Directs and coordinates quality control and damage reduction.
  • Determines and implements staffing levels to achieve customer success.
  • Conducts performance evaluations.
  • Conducts disciplinary follow-up as required.
  • Anticipates and determines causes of delays in shift operations and takes appropriate actions.
  • Reports promptly to department managers and production planning department delays occur; estimates the time of delay and when operations will be resumed.
  • Facilitates mill shut-downs and sets up labor plans.
  • Captures and submits monthly special project hours.
  • Participates in quarterly housekeeping and MIP (Major Impact Prevention) inspections.
  • Interviews and recruits applicants for promotable positions within the operation.
  • Coordinates waste stream processes, projects, and contingency plans.
  • Fills in, in the event of an absence of a shift supervisor or GM.
  • Drives a forklift.
  • Participates in staffing and payroll administrative functions.
  • Participates in department TSA (Transport Safety Assessment) and makes recommendations for process improvement.
  • Handles customer complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts.

  • Reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed by the General Manager of the customer.
