BMP Doors is seeking an Operations Manager for their Waynesboro, Pennsylvania location. The company focuses on manufacturing, selling, and assisting with various high-performance high-speed doors, aiming to enhance the flow of goods and people.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Business Management or related field.
  • Computer skills required: Contract Management Systems; Development Software; Inventory Software; Microsoft Office Suite; Project Management Software
  • Experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment (hands-on proven track record in metal fabrication).
  • Knowledge and understanding of lean techniques.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources).
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
  • Technically competent, quick study, and excellent communication/people skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and able to establish logical practical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve required company quality standards ensuring both internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing to exceed company targets in productivity, efficiency, and quality on a continuous basis.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and ensure targets are achieved.
  • Ensure safe working practices are maintained and Standard Operations are adhered to.
  • Challenge non-conformance and ensure countermeasures are agreed upon and implemented.
  • Oversee support functions for production planning and resource/skill allocation to ensure product delivery according to schedule and within quality specifications.
  • Support the implementation of engineering changes, production trials, model changes, and pilot builds.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes.
  • Possess a full understanding of customer expectations and deliverables, with an awareness of the impact of failure and the cost of poor quality.
  • Promote Total Productive Maintenance procedures to improve line availability and work with maintenance technicians on plant or machinery breakdowns.
  • Contribute to the improvement of working procedures by seeking solutions for optimal productivity and ensuring compliance with procedures, operating procedures, and work instructions.
  • Support the resolution of customer concerns, identify and eliminate root causes using robust countermeasures, and sustain corrective actions to eliminate repeat issues.
  • Ensure internal delivery processes are adhered to and support dispatch time windows.
  • Ensure all external and internal auditory standards and improvement requirements are met.
  • Directly supervise 4 employees and indirectly supervise 20+ employees across various departments.
  • Lead by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace.
  • Motivate the team to foster a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced, utilizing interpersonal styles, setting objectives, and defining responsibilities for clear direction.
  • Sustain and develop teamwork and team-based problem-solving.
  • Communicate with the team using visual management and delivering shift briefs focused on quality, cost, delivery, and gathering improvement ideas.
  • Manage team members, providing direction and feedback to aid good performance.
  • Build effective relationships with work colleagues.
