About The Position

The Operations Manager ensures the successful day-to-day execution of janitorial operations across multiple client sites by leading people, maintaining quality, and ensuring that every account meets ESS Clean’s standards of service and safety. Working closely with the Branch Manager, this role translates strategy into action, building strong teams, systems, and client relationships that drive consistent results.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in janitorial, facilities, or operations management.
  • Valid Driver's License and good driving history.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple sites and teams simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of staffing, scheduling, and labor control.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Experience using timekeeping and scheduling systems (e.g., eHub).
  • Must be able to perform all tasks associated with general cleaning — including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing and walking frequently, and bending or stooping as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support Area Managers and Supervisors to achieve operational excellence.
  • Utilize company technology to adequate coverage and efficient scheduling of all accounts.
  • Partner with HR to recruit, train, and retain high-performing team members.
  • Conduct ongoing performance discussions, support employee development, and uphold company values.
  • Ensure all client sites are cleaned to ESS Clean standards and within budgeted labor hours.
  • Oversee site inspections, audits, and follow-up on quality and safety findings.
  • Coordinate special services and ensure timely completion of project work.
  • Monitor supply inventory and usage, maintaining accountability and cost control.
  • Build strong relationships with client contacts and respond quickly to service needs.
  • Support the Branch Manager in resolving escalated client concerns and maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate regularly with the Branch Manager about operational performance, staffing needs, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Champion a culture of safety through regular training, inspections, and proactive communication.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
  • Encourage and recognize team members for safety, quality, and positive attitude.
