About The Position

FSM Group, LLC, an aviation fuel management company with operations across North America, has an immediate opening for an Operations Manager at our Boston airport location. The Operations Manager oversees and directs aircraft fueling and defueling activities to ensure safe, efficient, and timely service delivery. This role provides leadership and guidance to supervisors and fueling personnel while promoting compliance with company policies, safety requirements, airport regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local laws. This role includes planning and coordinating daily activities, managing staffing and equipment resources, investigating operational incidents, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. The Operations Manager also oversees employee development, performance management, customer service, and coordination with airport authorities, customers, and regulatory agencies to maintain service quality and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record in accordance with company standards
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to maintain reliable transportation to and from the assigned work location
  • Availability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and applicable background checks, including federal fingerprinting, in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Ability to access all areas of the airport necessary to perform job duties, including secured areas, in compliance with airport and federal regulations
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required government security clearance; employment is contingent upon successful completion of all applicable background checks and clearance requirements as determined by the contracting agency
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible management experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aviation fueling operations, including applicable safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in a safety-focused or highly regulated environment
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices related to fuel operations
  • Proven ability to lead, guide, and develop team members in a safety-focused operational environment
  • Ability to apply organizational policies, procedures, and standards consistently while fostering a professional, respectful, and productive workplace
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and motivate team members and communicate professionally with customers, stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and airport authorities
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance guidelines, and procedural manuals
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English as required to perform job duties and support safe operations in the airport environment, including during emergencies or situations requiring a shared language for safety
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions
  • Proficiency with computer systems and common workplace software applications, including Microsoft Office applications, data entry and operational reporting systems
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders with 50+ steps and work at heights of 50 feet or more, including high, precarious places
  • Ability to get in and out of vehicles of varying sizes and heights
  • Ability to drive and operate vehicles and equipment of various sizes, including automated lifts up to 26 feet
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds overhead
  • Occasionally lift up to 70 pounds to waist level
  • Ability to shovel materials such as snow, sand, dirt, gravel, or rocks as needed
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, twist, climb, and balance for extended periods of time
  • Perform repetitive physical movements, including bending at the waist and knees, and sustaining awkward or physically demanding positions
  • Capable of climbing and standing on step ladders while performing overhead work, such as connecting fueling hoses
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grip, and operate tools, equipment, and controls
  • Hear and respond to verbal instructions, environmental sounds, and audible alarms
  • Maintain the following vision capabilities: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), Color vision (identify and distinguish between colors), Peripheral vision (see up/down and side-to-side while focused on a central point), Depth perception (assess distance and spatial relationships), Ability to adjust focus (sharpen vision at various distances)
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
  • Tolerate frequent exposure to moderate to high noise levels (with use of appropriate hearing protection)
  • Tolerate frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous substances, materials, or waste
  • Work near or around moving mechanical parts, high-voltage equipment, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems operating under high pressure

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates fueling activities to provide fast and efficient services for customers by performing duties personally or through other team members
  • Reviews data on incoming flights such as scheduled or estimated times of arrival or departure, destinations and downline station stops, to plan work activities
  • Directs and coordinates all operations functions and ensures workers and equipment are available for fueling and defueling services
  • Manages employees in the Fueling Department, including training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems, and ensuring employees successfully complete the Company's training program
  • Investigate causes of accidents/incidents and recommend safety measures for preventing further occurrences
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental and organizational needs
