About The Position

Alta Material Handling is seeking an Operations Manager to lead our Dorval, QC branch. This leadership role is accountable for overall branch performance, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, employee development, profitability, and continued branch growth. The primary responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to: Lead overall branch operations with accountability for performance, profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. Drive branch growth by partnering with Parts, Service, Sales, and other business functions to achieve operational and financial goals. Manage branch P&L, inventory, budgets, expenses, productivity, and key performance indicators to support profitable growth. Develop, coach, and support branch employees through performance management, training, succession planning, and regular feedback. Build strong employee, customer, and vendor relationships while resolving issues promptly and professionally. Foster a positive, accountable, and engaged team culture focused on safety, customer service, continuous improvement, and Alta’s Guiding Principles. Partner with Sales and other departments to identify opportunities, improve customer experience, and support branch revenue growth. Maintain strong working knowledge of branch operations to provide support and coverage as business needs require. WIP control and invoicing. Monitor building condition. Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time.

Requirements

  • Bilingual French and English communication skills are required, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees, customers, and business partners in both languages
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of management experience
  • Ability to effectively manage others
  • Time management skills
  • Computer Skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Business Intelligence (BI); Fleetmatics, PayTrace, Concur, Extend
  • Language Skills - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills - Intermediate: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability - High: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Dealership experience is highly preferred
