About The Position
The Operations Manager is responsible for facilitating daily shelter operations. The Schwartz Assessment Shelter is a shelter for men operating 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Clients are referred to the program by the New York City Department of Homeless Services.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred plus one-year of relevant experience working in a similar capacity in a social services setting.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills and basic computer knowledge.
- Certifications in security required and Fire Safety (F-80) obtained within 3 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Supervise delivery of program services including intake, bed assignments, case management services, distribution of client mail, lockers, meal cards and medication.
- Ensure optimal customer service is being provided to clients.
- Ensure recreation activities are occurring.
- Ensures the facility is adequately staffed at all times.
- Work with DHS PD to ensure the daily security and safety of the facility.
- Supervise facility maintenance, cleaning staff and fire safety.
- Manage community relations and communicate with relevant authorities as needed.
