OPERATIONS MANAGER - HVAC
About The Position
Hales AC is seeking an Operations Manager for their HVAC division in St. Petersburg, FL. This is a rebuild role where the successful candidate will be responsible for improving processes, leading the team, and driving business numbers. The position requires a hands-on approach, with a significant amount of time spent in the field coaching technicians and overseeing operations. The ideal candidate will have deep residential HVAC knowledge and a competitive drive to improve performance. This role is not for those who prefer desk work or a hands-off management style. Hales AC is a company with a 40-year reputation, and this role offers a significant opportunity to make a direct impact and grow within the Right Away Group.
Requirements
- Deep residential HVAC knowledge: diagnose, install, and train
- Proven ability to coach hard without creating drama
- Urgency: fix problems today, don’t wait for a meeting about them
- Belief that presenting the right solution is helping the customer, not pushing them
- Experience as an HVAC Operations or Service Manager who has turned around a struggling shop or built one from the ground up
- Or, experience as a top-tier Lead Tech or Install Lead who already runs the floor unofficially, trains new guys, and handles hard calls

Responsibilities
- Run Service, Install, IAQ, Dispatch, and Warehouse, and own the results
- Spend most of your week in the field, not the office: ride-alongs, job-site checks, and coaching techs in real time
- Fix callbacks, scheduling gaps, sloppy installs, and missed opportunities
- Recruit good techs, develop the ones we have, and move on from the ones who won’t get better
- Drive the numbers techs control: average ticket, close rate, memberships, callback rate, reviews
- Ensure every customer gets options, presented with professionalism and care
- Hold the standard: every job to code, every truck stocked, every customer taken care of
