About The Position

CEVA Freight LLC in Des Plaines, IL seeks an Operations Manager - Ground. This role serves as a key leader in directing and managing the Company's inbound and outbound logistics operations for Ground Domestic Teams. The Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of the site's activities to deliver high levels of service while maintaining profitability and cost efficiency, adhering strictly to Company policies and regulatory requirements. This position leads, directs, and manages the Company's inbound and outbound site operations for the Ground Domestic Team to ensure that the operational staff execute service agreements at or above the customer's standards. The role is responsible for oversight of all customer deliveries and pickups of both B2B & B2C. Profitability is maximized through customer service, maintaining effective and prompt communication, and addressing all pending matters with the customer in a timely manner. The Operations Manager will manage revenue and expenses to meet budget constraints, including oversight of the ground domestic team's handling of billing, accounts payable & accounts receivables, as well as contractor settlements for Independent Contractors. Planning and monitoring of daily staffing schedules, adjusting them as needed to maintain adequate staffing levels that align with operational demands and business objectives, and effective allocation of work assignments to ensure operational efficiency and staff engagement are key responsibilities. Directives, rules, and procedures must be effectively communicated to the operations staff. The role oversees the implementation and maintenance of safety methods, practices, and programs to guarantee that freight is handled in a safe and timely manner using appropriate equipment and tools, and ensures a clean, professional, and safe working environment is maintained. Management and oversight of administrative functions to ensure all paperwork is processed efficiently, meets compliance requirements, and is completed in a timely manner by administrative staff is also required. This role works with the Director of Operations and all RFP quotes and the business development (i.e., Sales Team) of new clients, specifically new tariff pricing structure and new customer on boarding. Finally, the Operations Manager provides coaching, training, and mentorship to subordinate staff, as well as career development opportunities through training and quality management activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field of study.
  • 24 months exp. in ground operations Leadership, P&L Management, Supply Chain Management, Customer Service, Contract Negotiation, Continuous Improvement, New Client onboarding, independent contractor & Driver Relations.
