About The Position

The Operations Manager, Electrical is responsible for leading the full operational, financial, and people performance of Modern Niagara’s Electrical division. This role oversees all aspects of project execution including safety, quality, forecasting, scheduling, and profitability while cultivating a high performance culture rooted in our core values and SMaC operating discipline. As a key member of the electrical leadership team, the Operations Manager drives strategic planning, strengthens client and stakeholder relationships, and develops top talent to ensure the division’s long‑term success. Through disciplined leadership and collaborative alignment across office and field teams, this role ensures consistent delivery of safe, high quality, and profitable electrical projects that support Modern Niagara’s growth objectives and market reputation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10-15 years in the construction industry with a focus on electrical construction management of large scale commercial projects.
  • Participates in the development of overall objectives and long-term planning; provides leadership and direction that maximizes Modern Niagara's goals.
  • Financial Management: Strong business acumen with the ability to manage divisional P&L, drive revenue growth, and protect margins through disciplined forecasting, budgeting, and cost‑control practices. Ensures accurate revenue recognition, proactive cash‑flow oversight, and informed decision-making based on financial data. Continuously evaluates project performance to mitigate risk, capitalize on opportunities, and maintain long‑term financial health for the division.
  • Professional Development: Committed to building a high-performance team by actively coaching, mentoring, and developing both field and office personnel. Creates clear role expectations and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to support career growth and succession readiness. Invests in developing “A Players” and emerging leaders through regular feedback, structured learning, and opportunities that strengthen technical and leadership capability across the division.
  • Quality: Ensures that all electrical projects adhere to Modern Niagara’s quality standards and client expectations by implementing consistent processes, rigorous oversight, and proactive problem‑solving. Promotes a culture of continuous improvement where teams are empowered to identify quality gaps, address root causes, and elevate operational excellence. Collaborates with superintendents, project managers, and subcontractors to maintain a high standard of workmanship and technical accuracy in every deliverable.
  • Safety: Champions a safety‑first culture grounded in the principles of SAFE Leadership. Actively promotes safe work practices, ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate safety standards, and works to continuously improve safety performance, including TRIF metrics across all jobsites. Leads by example, ensuring teams understand that safety is a non‑negotiable priority in planning, execution, decision making, and daily operations.
  • Leadership: Serves as a strategic, values driven leader who models Modern Niagara’s Core Values and SMaC discipline. Provides clear direction, fosters alignment across teams, and builds a culture of accountability, transparency, and collaboration. Demonstrates sound judgment and decisive action when navigating complex operational challenges. Acts as the primary ambassador of the “One Modern” operating model, uniting diverse groups toward shared goals while nurturing trust, engagement, and high performance throughout the division.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full P&L for the Electrical division, ensuring financial strength through disciplined forecasting, margin protection, revenue growth, and sustainable long‑term profitability.
  • Embed Modern Niagara’s Core Values and SMaC discipline across teams, fostering a culture of alignment, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Build a bench of high performing “A Players” through intentional coaching, succession planning, and individualized development plans that elevate capability across both field and office teams.
  • Champion SAFE leadership and quality standards, ensuring every project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical and operational expectations.
  • Position the division for long-term success by cultivating strong client partnerships, supporting backlog expansion, and contributing to enterprise-wide strategy and scalability.
  • Champions and reinforces a culture where core values are clearly communicated, consistently modeled, and embedded in all internal and external interactions.
  • Advance the establishment of SMaC (Simple, Management, and Consistent) as the standard operating framework across the division, including forecasting, teamwork, safety, and execution discipline.
  • Applies the SMaC Recipe to daily operations, decision-making, and leadership practices.
  • Lead the "One Modern" operating model that promotes alignment, collaboration, and shared accountability across the different divisions.
  • Fosters a culture of learning, development, and continuous improvement, ensuring teams are equipped to meet both current and future business needs.
  • Plans, staffs, and leads all divisional activities, including performance management, and role expectations across teams.
  • Coaches and develops direct reports to build and sustain high-performing “A Players.”
  • Ensures all team members have Individual Development Plans (IDPs) in place and actively supports career development conversations and succession planning.
  • Optimize division performance and outcomes through assessing and assigning project team members based on experience, capability, and project requirements.
  • Drives a culture of See Ask Fix Educate (SAFE) Leadership across the division; actively works to maintain or exceed prior-year TRIF performance.
  • Maintains comprehensive oversight of all projects, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with quality standards.
  • Monitors overall quantity and quality of work performed by the division, proactively addressing risks and performance gaps.
  • Maintains strong, collaborative relationships with General and Area Superintendents to ensure effective coordination of field resources, quality control, safety performance, and cost-at-completion management.
  • Establishes divisional objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards in alignment with corporate strategy and governance.
  • Develops and executes the annual business plan, including an operational budget that supports revenue growth, margin expectations, and long-term profitability.
  • Ensures a positive cash-flow position for the division through disciplined project execution and financial oversight.
  • Interfaces closely with the Finance team on revenue recognition, claims preparation, forecasting, and job-site financial support.
  • Maintains real-time awareness of project status across the division, promoting transparency and accountability.
  • Instills and promotes a collaborative, “win-win” mindset with project teams to deliver profitable work while ensuring a positive client experience.
  • Coordinates efforts with the internal stakeholders to support backlog growth, strategic pursuits, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provides directions to management in various areas, groups and Monitors schedules of all construction projects to maintain timely completion of projects within budget.
  • Makes final decisions for overall projects; develops and utilizes process to alert key players of conditions and delays that may negatively affect deliverables and costs for each project.
  • Leads the operations team on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company as well as the construction
  • Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
  • Monitors progress of the division, including project teams to ensure compliance with schedules, budgets, contractual milestones and operating expectations, exercising delegated authority as necessary.
