About The Position

The Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) role serves as the crucial link between the Operations and Maintenance departments. This position is responsible for the overall prioritization of equipment repair activities and ensuring the reliability of operating assets. The OMC will manage work prioritization, handle backlogs, and plan/schedule shutdowns. The role's key stakeholders include production, EH&S, and maintenance teams. The position aims to represent Operations' interests in prioritizing maintenance work to meet production output goals, while also representing Maintenance's interests by minimizing emergency work and maximizing the completion of planned and scheduled tasks.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree (or the equivalent work experience) in Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, or related fields.
  • Fundamental understanding of plant production and packaging processes.
  • Extensive experience with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • 4 years using EAM/CMMS systems.
  • Knowledge of maintenance management principles including precision maintenance, preventive maintenance, root cause failure analysis, shutdown and contingency planning.
  • Must be self-driven, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to influence broadly across the location to drive results.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and manage moderate scope change initiatives.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple priorities and prioritize work.
  • Ability to teach and train new employees.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely completion of assigned work.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Operations Manager, provide direction to the Maintenance Manager, Operations Supervisor(s), and Maintenance Supervisor(s) on maintenance work prioritization related to EAM.
  • Utilize strong operational knowledge to resolve conflicting information and determine final work schedule/prioritization based on organizational priorities.
  • Support the development of the EAM maintenance operating systems (MOS), establishing tracking KPIs and other metrics to ensure plant maintenance operational metrics are achieved.
  • Audit and provide feedback to plant and corporate leadership on adherence to EAM MOS.
  • Facilitate the Daily Approval & Scheduling Meeting to review all new Work Requests and establish realistic priorities and targeted completion dates.
  • Promptly review new Work Requests for accuracy, completeness, and clear descriptions, approving or rejecting them based on their value to the organization.
  • Edit work order data fields to ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor and assess the quality of maintenance job executions.
  • Maintain awareness of all equipment maintenance needs and related activities, including asset maintenance, repairs, PMs, emergent repairs, and assessing the condition of installed assets.
  • Ensure preparatory activities (lockouts, cleaning, permitting, etc.) are completed in a timely manner to allow maintenance work to proceed without delay.
  • Monitor the work order backlog consistently and communicate priorities to both Maintenance and Operations.
  • Follow up on completed 'Expedited' and 'Urgent' Work Orders within the area of responsibility.
  • Use the Risk Rank calculator to determine if work is emergency, urgent, or routine.
  • Participate in the turnover of projects from Engineering to Maintenance to ensure adherence to the Work Management process.
  • Manage the execution of the Basic Equipment Care (BEC) program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
