About The Position

The goal of the Operations Leadership Program is to thoroughly learn all facets of the scrap metal recycling industry from the ground up to assume a Leadership role upon completion. This is a hands-on, fast-paced training program designed to prepare individuals for leadership positions within Advantage Metals Recycling LLC. The program emphasizes a deep understanding of the entire business operation, from safety protocols to operational management. Nucor, the parent company, is North America's largest steel and steel products manufacturer and a leader in recycling, known for its strong culture, sustainability practices, and commitment to teammate development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in a Business discipline, Operations, Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to adapt to changing assignments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships, collaborate and work efficiently with team members.
  • Ability to make quick decisions with confidence in an ever-changing environment.
  • Must be ambitious and willing to put in the work to grow leadership skills.
  • Fully hands-on experience and fast-paced learning in the scrap metal recycling business.
  • Willingness to relocate to different regions after training based on business needs (company-paid relocation).
  • Must actively lead and uphold Nucor’s “Safety First” culture, including OSHA practices and daily operational safety standards.
  • Must be able to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug screening, which includes both urine and hair follicle testing.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and model Nucor’s “Safety First” Culture, including OSHA and Safety programs.
  • Gain hands-on experience in all facets of the scrap processing and recycling business, including buying and inspecting scrap, transportation and logistics, overseeing day-to-day operations, and equipment maintenance.
  • Interact with corporate personnel, customers, vendors/suppliers, and teammates to resolve problems and ensure steady delivery of products.
  • Collaborate with other managers to plan and direct the work of the organization.
  • Identify trends and recommend proactive actions to manage business situations.
  • Develop and implement actions to protect company assets and profitability.
  • Expect frequent travel.
  • Relocate after the program is required.
  • Work outside in extreme weather conditions in an industrial environment.
