About The Position

Canteen, part of Compass Group, is hiring an Operations Intern for a summer internship running from May 2027 through August 2027. Dates may be customized based on the student’s school schedule. The position is based in the Madison, Wisconsin metropolitan area and offers hands-on experience supporting Canteen’s operations and clients, learning industry best practices, and contributing to real-world projects. Interns may work in marketing and customer service, retail and merchandising, branch operations and support services, finance, purchasing and supply chain, or profit and loss management. They may also gain exposure to coffee and refreshments, vending services, and Avenue C Micro-Markets. The stated pay is $18.00 per hour. The schedule is 30–40 hours per week in the introductory posting, with the eligibility requirements specifying availability for 32–40 hours per week based on business needs and program requirements.

Requirements

• Be currently enrolled in a college or professional hospitality or culinary program; proof of enrollment is required.
• Meet the school’s GPA requirement for internships.
• Be available to work 32–40 hours per week based on business needs and program requirements.
• Have strong organizational skills and be comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Understand the basics of customer service and client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist with projects that improve business performance.
• Support customer service efforts and occasionally interact with clients.
• Help organize tasks for Micro Markets, Vending, and Coffee Services.
• Share ideas to improve workflows and best practices.
• Collaborate with the team to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
