About The Position

Axogen is seeking a highly motivated intern to join our Operations team this upcoming Fall semester. This internship offers a dynamic, professional, hands-on experience with guidance from knowledgeable mentors. The intern will gain a unique perspective on working within a smaller biomedical company, with high visibility within the organization. This internship is based in our Tampa, FL office and is not remote. It is scheduled to begin in Fall 2026, with a potential opportunity for extension into the following semester.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related Engineering degree.
Ability to work at least 15 hours per week in the office during normal business hours; preferably on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Pass a drug screening.
Strong interest in manufacturing engineering within the tissue space, as well as manufacturing, automation, process improvement, or medical device/biotechnology industries.
Demonstrated ability to independently research and learn technical topics.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings clearly.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team environment.

Nice To Haves

Experience with a long-term academic, research, engineering, or extracurricular project requiring independent investigation and problem solving.
Experience designing experiments, analyzing data, or developing technical recommendations.
CAD experience (SolidWorks or similar).
Familiarity with risk analysis, engineering design, or process improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

Conducting literature reviews and technology assessments of commercially available automation solutions.
Evaluating the applicability of new technologies within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Identifying and assessing technical, quality, and operational risks associated with process changes.
Designing and executing experiments to evaluate new equipment and process concepts.
Developing fixtures, tooling, and process improvements to support manufacturing implementation.
Analyzing data and presenting recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.
Supporting implementation planning, validation, and change management activities from operations, quality, and regulatory perspectives.
