About The Position

Covia is seeking an Operations Intern for its Roff, Oklahoma plant. The intern will learn and participate in various aspects of plant operations and complete an assigned project intended to benefit the operation. The internship runs from May 17, 2027, through August 7, 2027.

The intern will gain exposure to mining, plant processing, quality control, environmental compliance, and maintenance activities while working with the relevant supervisors and superintendents. The role also includes assisting salaried staff with technical problems or projects and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (such as mining, mechanical, industrial, or chemical engineering) or a related field at an accredited university.
• Interested in developing a career in Operations.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to think logically and communicate ideas with others.
• Willingness to interact and thrive in a diverse group dynamic.
• Demonstrated analytical and business skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn and adhere to Covia safety principles, including PPE, MSHA regulations, industrial hygiene, and workplace inspections.
• Work with the Mine Superintendent and Mine Supervisor to learn mining processes such as drilling, blasting, haulage, surveying, and sampling.
• Work with the Plant Superintendent and Shift Supervisors to learn grinding, flotation, drying, screening, and loading.
• Work with the Quality Control Supervisor to learn quality control, sampling, data management, reporting, and continuous improvement.
• Work with the Environmental Supervisor to learn permitting, regulatory requirements and reporting, and reclamation.
• Work with the Maintenance Supervisor to learn preventative and corrective maintenance, purchasing, and scheduling.
• Assist salaried staff as needed with technical problems and projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
