About The Position

Covia is seeking an Operations Intern to support the Operations Team at its Roff, Oklahoma plant. The internship provides the opportunity to learn and participate in different aspects of operating a successful plant and to complete an assigned project that benefits the operation. The internship runs from May 17, 2027, through August 7, 2027.

The intern will learn Covia’s safety principles and gain introductory experience in mining, plant processing, quality control, environmental compliance, and maintenance by working with supervisors and other salaried staff. The intern may also assist with technical problems or projects as needed and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in engineering (such as mining, mechanical, industrial, or chemical engineering) or a related field of study at an accredited university.
• Interested in developing a career in operations.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to think logically and communicate ideas with others.
• Willingness to interact and thrive in a diverse group dynamic.
• Demonstrated analytical and business skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow Covia safety principles, including personal protective equipment, MSHA regulations, industrial hygiene, and workplace inspections.
• Work with the Mine Superintendent and Mine Supervisor to learn mining processes, including drilling, blasting, haulage, surveying, and sampling.
• Work with the Plant Superintendent and Shift Supervisors to learn grinding, flotation, drying, screening, and loading.
• Work with the Quality Control Supervisor to learn quality control, sampling, data management, reporting, and continuous improvement.
• Work with the Environmental Supervisor to learn permitting, regulatory requirements and reporting, and reclamation.
• Work with the Maintenance Supervisor to learn preventive and corrective maintenance, purchasing, and scheduling.
• Assist salaried staff as needed with technical problems and projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
