About The Position

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking an Operations Engineer II to lead process initiatives in developing and delivering next-generation, world-class sortation and transportation systems. This role involves utilizing groundbreaking technologies to develop sortation and logistics systems, and designing systems and processes that leverage automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and robotics. The position requires collaboration with internal and external teams to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions in short timeframes, with ownership of process designs from start to finish. The role also involves coordinating efforts to develop optimal solutions and processes for the sortation and transportation network through material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations. The Operations Engineer II will simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks, effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with business partners, contractors, and vendors. Domestic travel up to 25% may be required.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Operations Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Project Engineering or related field and one year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • In the alternative, a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Operations Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Project Engineering or related field followed by five years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • One year of experience as an industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • One year of experience managing material handling or automation projects.
  • One year of design and/or implementation experience with integrated automation solutions, such as material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing lines.
  • One year of experience utilizing CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
  • One year of Operations Management/Distribution Center experience.
  • One year of experience with Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing efforts, transportation/logistics and/or fulfillment/distribution centers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead NASC Process initiatives in developing and delivering next generation, world-class sortation and transportation systems.
  • Utilize groundbreaking technologies to develop sortation and logistics systems.
  • Design systems and processes that leverage groundbreaking automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies and robotics.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions in very short periods of time for our sortation and distribution systems. Projects will be a variety of template-based and designed-from-scratch along with ownership of Process Designs end to end complementing each Design.
  • Coordinate efforts to develop optimal solutions and processes for the sortation and transportation network through material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.
  • Perform domestic travel up to 25% may be required to perform the responsibilities of the role.
