About The Position

This position is located in Brunswick, GA. The Operations Engineer II - Special Missions role involves working and leading independently to prepare, conduct, and evaluate analyses for operations process optimization and problem-solving for manufacturing issues. This includes production methods and procedures for a specific production process, covering production sequence/flow, tooling and production equipment, layout, material fabrication, and assembly methods and planning. The role requires driving quality and efficiency improvements, managing the daily work plan, providing performance metrics, and coordinating engineering and tooling changes to meet operations goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related curriculum, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 18 months Manufacturing Engineering, planning, or related technical experience.
• Knowledgeable about Engineering configuration requirements, tooling, quality control, plant safety, blueprint reading, and shop math.
• Proven knowledge and understanding of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles and processes.
• Ability to influence across functional disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to operate computerized equipment, such as personal computers, CATIA, etc.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

• Experience interpreting G550 blueprints is preferred but not required.
• Lean Specialist certification or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain detailed work instructions for the assigned manufacturing process.
• Drive quality improvements, efficiency improvements, and material presentation enhancements.
• Manage the daily work plan and provide metrics for quality and schedule performance.
• Coordinate engineering and tooling changes as required to meet Operations goals.
• Perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) analysis on quality defects.
• Perform technical studies of a complex nature and conduct analysis of operations.
• Define equipment/tooling needs and correct methods of manufacturing.
• Generate make-or-buy proposals and recommend corrective actions.
• Evaluate vendors, attend vendor negotiations, and assist in resolving vendor problems.
• Conduct research, investigation, and analysis to ensure conformance to requirements.
• Investigate and assist in preparing justification for equipment and facility improvements.
• Perform producibility studies from engineering drawings to enhance manufacturing ability.
• Participate in Design for Manufacturing assessments with Engineering.
• Apply statistical methods to estimate future Manufacturing requirements and potential.
• Incorporate Lean Manufacturing Methodology into existing and future processes.
• Develop business cases and present to management for process improvement approval.
• Provide training to Operations Engineer I in work methods, procedures, and resource utilization.
• Independently lead/coordinate the implementation of projects among multiple organizations.
• Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to manufacturing methods.
• Support all Safety, Sustainability, and Ergonomic Initiatives.
• Aid in the development and maintenance of the Business Continuity Plan.
• Ensure quality policies are practiced and recommend/implement procedures to improve quality.
• Initiate and maintain accurate daily/weekly activity status based on work output.
• Function as Operations Manager substitute.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
