About The Position

The Operations Director, Fulfillment Center Operations will oversee inbound and outbound operations within a nonsortable manual sortable fulfillment center. This role is responsible for monitoring performance, implementing process improvements, ensuring compliance, and developing a skilled and engaged workforce. The position requires strategic leadership to achieve key performance metrics, regulatory obligations, and operational standards, while collaborating with various internal and external teams to optimize capacity and delivery management. People development is a key aspect, including providing learning and development opportunities, mentoring, and cultivating an environment of respect, integrity, and ethics. The role also involves building high-performing teams, attracting and retaining talent, and fostering a culture of belonging. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field and 5 years’ experience in supply chain operations or related field OR 7 years’ experience in supply chain operations or related field.
  • 4 years’ supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Senior Operations Managers to implement quality control processes that ensure the accuracy of each order handled by the fulfillment center.
  • Oversees outbound operations across all shifts.
  • Supports the development of fulfillment center best practices for product distribution in line with organizational standards.
  • Oversees outbound activities for a nonsortable manual sortable fulfillment center.
  • Develops fulfillment center best practices for product distribution in line with organizational standards.
  • Reviews analysis provided by Senior Operations Managers and coordinates with ICQA teams to ensure necessary product inventory levels are maintained.

  • Develops fulfillment, transportation, and storage standards to ensure an organized and efficient storage environment.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and provides process improvement feedback to Senior Operations Managers.
  • Recommends and delivers training to associates on continuous improvement and performance enhancement activities for all fulfillment center operations.
  • Drives continuous improvement and performance enhancement activities and oversees implementation of Lean strategies and processes across a nonsortable fulfillment center.
  • Supports strategic leadership for an automated sortable fulfillment center to achieve key performance metrics and regulatory obligations and operational standards.

  • Collaborates with Senior Operations Managers as well as external teams (e.g., Fulfillment Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Transportation Operations) to ensure optimization of capacity and delivery management.
  • Supports and collaborates with other functions at Walmart such as HR, Maintenance, and ICQA to achieve objectives.
  • Ensures associates receive learning and development opportunities (e.g., training, mentoring).
  • Coaches team members and provides feedback to enhance skills, knowledge, and work performance.
  • Mentors Senior Operations Managers and less experienced associates.
  • Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs, developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps, recruiting, selecting, and developing talent, supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning, and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
