About The Position

NBT Commercial Loan Operations Specialists independently perform complex commercial operational tasks within Operations functional areas. They utilize technical expertise in their designated area, resolve escalated issues, and support customer service. This role applies experienced knowledge of commercial loan structure and documentation, policy, procedures, regulations, and law to their area of focus, ensuring adherence to loan approval and commercial loan documentation. They interpret and complete requests for data input, maintenance, verification, and data collection. This role supports both monetary and non-monetary transactions, which require reconciliation. They utilize advanced knowledge and provide implementation support for projects, including testing of release enhancements to the loan accounting system and origination systems. Utilizing a strong understanding of the loan accounting system and its impact, they provide guidance to staff and collaborate with peers and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals. They independently discern solutions for business situations. They create and update procedures, with supervisor’s approval, while ensuring compliance and following regulations. Their activities directly impact customer accounts, bank reporting, and real-time information. They may prepare reports and furnish information to authorized persons, including internal loan review audits. They foster and maintain inclusive, collaborative, and courteous relationships with internal customers, colleagues, and peers; inspire others and develop mutually beneficial internal & external networks.

Requirements

  • Associates degree and 3 years’ experience required. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow procedures and interrogate data required
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Good communication skills (written and oral) required

Responsibilities

  • Process a variety of complex Business Banking and commercial transactions and/or tasks as assigned, which may include but are not limited to: accurate boarding of complex loan structures with multiple collateral pledging and balancing GLs.
  • Provide guidance to teammates on complex functions, resolving complex exception items, interacting with vendors and project teams.
  • Complete higher level tasks on the team requiring analysis and independent judgment and decision making.
  • Provide support to internal and/or external customers as well as department teammates, cross train on and provide coverage for other team duties as required.
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position.
  • Ensure ongoing adherence to pertinent policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ongoing focus on risk and fraud mitigation.
  • Uphold service level standards under normal conditions.
  • Develop and update procedures in conjunction with the supervisor and assist with employee training and onboarding.
  • Other duties as assigned.
