About The Position

The Operations Chief develops and coordinates operational plans, schedules, exercises, reports, briefs, meetings, risk assessments, and after-action products in support of Marine Corps University and Education Command objectives.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate operational planning, track milestones and action items, prepare decision-support products, and support exercises or training events.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Five (5) years experience providing operations, planning, program management, or administrative support within a government, military, higher education, or comparable organizational environment.
  • Minimum Tier 1 background investigation and Government-access eligibility are required; an active Secret clearance is required before supporting classified events or tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update operational plans to support organizational goals and mission objectives.
  • Coordinating with department leads to gather input and ensure alignment in the development and execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed reports and briefs on operational activities, including progress assessments, resource utilization, and potential risks.
  • Analyze current operational processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support the planning and execution of exercises, training sessions, and contingency operations by developing scenarios, coordinating logistics, and providing administrative support.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of operational plans, decisions, and outcomes for future reference.
  • Facilitate regular planning meetings and briefings, preparing agendas, documenting decisions, and ensuring follow-up on action items.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule for operational activities, ensuring all key milestones are tracked and met.
  • Create and distribute after-action reports to document lessons learned, best practices, and areas for improvement following major operations or exercises.
