The Operations Internship is an outstanding program where you’ll get to learn from experienced professionals and gain hands-on-experience in the Life organization. Interns will be placed in either our Claims Operations group or Specialized Member Services (SMS) group. Within defined guidelines and framework, assists with the development and optimization of business process related solutions for clients. Supports the team in the alignment of process to overall experience strategy and vision. Our internship program encourages you to showcase your skills, while gaining real-life experience that’ll help you jump-start your career. Our interns deliver innovative solutions to real business challenges, while building enduring relationships in a collaborative culture with their manager and an assigned mentor. The internships will be based at the USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. Interns offered full-time roles may have the opportunity to work out of one of USAA’s satellite locations.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship.
  • Graduation date cannot be prior to August 13, 2027
  • Graduation date between August 2027 and June 2028
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Business Communications, Process Engineering, MBA, or similar fields.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma.
  • Experience in Financial Services.
  • Knowledge of Life Insurance and Annuities.

Responsibilities

  • Digitization of forms/documents.
  • Facilitate improvement in cycle times.
  • Leveraging AI to review and confirm documentation.
  • Develop, sustains, and manage defined business processes through a structured approach.
  • Gain foundational knowledge of the business and assist with alignment of business deliverable processes and capabilities with business needs.
  • Gather information and conduct research to support issues and process activities and assists the team in monitoring the overall health of processes.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate on business processes to lead continuous process improvement efforts.
