About The Position

The Operations Associate plays a critical role in supporting the daily functioning of all grades 6-12 across classroom coverage, front desk, and afternoon student transportation. This position combines instructional responsibilities and operations support and is essential for providing safe, structured environments for students. Operations associates are deeply committed to student success and are comfortable managing and working with students in different capacities. Strong candidates are detail oriented, display flexibility, thrive on teamwork and collaboration, and can balance multiple responsibilities throughout the day. This role requires frequent communication between faculty, families, and external transportation staff. Hours for this position are 9:00am-5:30pm Monday-Friday on site.

Requirements

  • A GED, high school diploma, or higher preferred
  • Previous experience in K-12 schools or youth settings preferred
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Capability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Capacity to use a computer and other classroom technology
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a substitute teacher when faculty are absent
  • Provide meaningful instruction for students in the absence of their teacher (implementation of lesson plans, facilitate learning)
  • Create a classroom environment structured around scholarship where students are authentically engaged and curious
  • Set and uphold high expectations for students academically and adhere to Boston Prep culture expectations
  • Support daily duties as assigned, and as needed, including supervising students during lunch, recess, hallways, and dismissal.
  • Manage the afternoon transportation system in collaboration with the Family Operations Manager
  • Supervise students after school until all students have received bus transportation home
  • Liaison between transportation department, families, and staff with professional, detailed communication
  • Responsible for the safety of students afterschool taking school bus transportation
  • Manage the front desk and serve as a daytime receptionist (greeting families, managing requests, answering phones, etc.)
  • Support and organize school events with set-up and preparation
  • Working with operations team to ensure all classroom spaces and facilities are ready for students at all points of the school year, including re-stocking supplies for teachers and regular classroom checks
  • Support the operations team with various tasks and projects (e.g., laundry room, book inventory, restocking supplies, mailings, lost and found, etc.)
  • Communicating frequently with students, families, and school leaders around academic and behavioral progress
  • Attending occasional after-school events
  • Partnering with team members, students and families, to actively uproot racism and inequality in our community
  • Modeling empathy, embodying the mindset that “kids do well if they can”
  • Upholding school and grade level systems and structures with fidelity
  • Assuming extracurricular responsibilities, if desired
  • Actively engaging in one’s learning; seeking and acting on feedback regularly
  • Actively pursuing professional development, inside and outside of the school
  • Collaborating with teachers and school leaders to advance the school’s mission
