About The Position

Hill Bros Transportation is looking for an Operations Assistant to be the backbone of their operations team. This role will support the Operations Manager while building skills across load planning, driver management, and customer service. The ideal candidate is a versatile problem-solver who thrives when every day looks different, thinks fast, and wants to make a direct impact on customer and driver success.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Solid understanding of U.S. geography and shipping regions.
• Excellent communication skills and a calm, accountable approach under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
• A safety-first mindset.

Nice To Haves

• 1–2 years of trucking industry operations experience preferred, but not necessary.
• Load planning experience strongly preferred.
• TMW or AS400/Innovative Software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan loads strategically, coordinating swap/relays, balancing profitability with customer and driver needs, and ensuring trucks move where freight is needed.
• Support assigned drivers by acting as the go-to communication hub for ETAs, pickup/delivery details, home time requests, and fuel solutions.
• Deliver customer service by monitoring loads for on-time delivery and keeping customers and brokers informed via phone and email.
• Keep systems accurate by entering orders, processing TRANSFLO messages, tracking truck locations, and correcting system errors.
• Handle driver calls and customer needs on scheduled Saturdays, and prepare weekend reports for the team.
• Stay organized by using daily reports and checklists to ensure all tasks are covered.
