About The Position

Gallaudet University, a bilingual, diverse, and multicultural institution dedicated to the advancement of Deaf and hard of hearing individuals, seeks an Operations and Communications Coordinator for the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center. This federally funded center operates exemplary educational programs and national outreach initiatives. The Operations and Communications Coordinator will report to the Assistant Director of the National Beacon Center and will be responsible for coordinating the primary operational and communications functions, including workflows, deliverables, communications, and stakeholder engagement to support implementation, operational continuity, and organizational effectiveness across initiatives serving Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) and national partners nationwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience with communications, project management, or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience with digital platforms (e.g., WordPress, MailChimp, Asana).
  • Strong ability to analyze workflows using project management tools, identify bottlenecks, and implement scalable, efficient solutions while managing complex projects with consistent follow-through.
  • Strong ability to develop, manage, and maintain clear, accessible communications and up-to-date digital content across multiple channels and platforms.
  • Strong ability to track performance metrics and operational activities, delivering accurate, timely reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to align communications, resource development, and operations with organizational goals while managing shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Strong ability to apply a user-centered approach through active listening, stakeholder engagement, and development of practical, relevant resources.
  • Strong ability to effectively utilize digital systems for administrative functions, including onboarding, training, documentation, and time tracking.
  • Demonstrated experience to work with and across University departments, outside constituents, and groups.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates day-to-day operational coordination across National Beacon Center initiatives and activities.
  • Manages project timelines, implementation workflows, deliverables, and operational tracking systems.
  • Oversees project management systems (e.g., Asana), workflow structures, and coordination processes across initiatives.
  • Coordinates cross-functional implementation efforts to ensure continuity, accountability, and alignment across team activities.
  • Coordinates Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) related reporting activities, deliverables, and operational documentation.
  • Leads communications across email platforms, website content, newsletters, and the Coordinator Portal.
  • Develops and oversees communications related to meetings, technical assistance activities, resources, and national engagement efforts.
  • Translates complex information into accessible, user-friendly communications and resources for EHDI Coordinators and national partners.
  • Ensures communications and messaging remain clear, consistent, organized, and aligned across initiatives and platforms.
  • Supports and enhances coordinator engagement efforts across monthly meetings, office hours, and the Coordinator Portal.
  • Establishes feedback loops and supports continuous improvement of coordinator engagement and user experience.
  • Helps ensure communications, technical assistance activities, and resources are relevant, accessible, and actionable for coordinators and partners.
  • Coordinates organization, dissemination, and maintenance of National Beacon Center resources and materials.
  • Ensures materials and resources are current, accessible, structured, and aligned across platforms and initiatives.
  • Supports coordination of resource development and sharing efforts across team activities and partner collaborations.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrates a genuine commitment to belonging in the workplace and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous learning.
  • Serves as a mandatory reporter under Title IX; and commits to completing Title IX training and other compliance requirements on an annual basis.
  • Prioritizes workplace safety as a collective responsibility for employee well-being and fosters a culture of safety integral to our success, including strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, as well as prompt reporting of safety hazards or incidents.

Benefits

  • The posted salary range reflects onsite compensation. Fully remote positions have a different hiring range due to a 15% pay differential.
