Summary: Operational Excellence Specialist The Operational Excellence Specialist supports day-to-day supply chain execution within a Control Tower environment, with a focus on operational visibility, exception management, stakeholder coordination, and service continuity. The role monitors flow across systems, sites, and logistics partners, identifies risks or disruptions, and coordinates timely corrective actions within agreed service levels. Success in this role requires disciplined follow-up, strong operational judgement, comfort working with data and execution systems, and the ability to coordinate issue resolution across multiple stakeholders under time pressure. Salary Range: From $60,000 to $70,000. The actual pay may vary based on several factors, including professional experience, hiring location, skills, and competencies. We are open to considering qualified candidates located in Indianapolis, Cincinnati, or Chicago .

Requirements

  • Typically requires 3+ years of experience in supply chain operations, logistics, transportation management, customer operations, or a Control Tower environment.
  • Hands-on experience managing operational exceptions, escalations, service disruptions, or execution issues.
  • Experience working with SAP or comparable ERP systems, with familiarity across warehousing, transport, order management, or material readiness processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders across functions, sites, and geographies.
  • Experience with KPI reporting, operational dashboards, exception tracking, or performance management routines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in Control Tower, 4PL, LLP, or centralized logistics coordination environments is preferred.
  • Experience with TMS, WMS, visibility platforms, workflow tools, deployment or ramp-up projects, multi-site operations, SOP development, process improvement, or RCA/RCCA methodologies is preferred.
  • Experience operating in follow-the-sun or global operations environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 2 operational support and coordinate exception resolution activities.
  • Drive practical, timely resolutions within defined service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Investigate operational issues using SAP or comparable ERP, WMS, TMS, dashboard, and exception-tracking tools.
  • Monitor and coordinate resolution of critical operational exceptions, expedite requests, delays, shortages, and service-impacting disruptions.
  • Coordinate transportation plan adjustments and recovery actions in response to disruptions, capacity constraints, or changing customer requirements.
  • Escalate unresolved or high-impact issues through agreed governance channels.
  • Support customer deployment and ramp-up activities.
  • Support capacity assessments and highlight potential operational constraints, risks, or readiness gaps.
  • Monitor material readiness across multiple sites and locations.
  • Coordinate actions required to support deployment milestones and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with customers, warehouses, transport providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication and follow-up actions across functions and geographies.
  • Support structured shift handovers and cross-regional coordination to ensure continuity across time zones.
  • Support or coordinate Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain operational dashboards, KPI reporting, and exception tracking.
  • Maintain and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs), playbooks, and operational work instructions.
  • Support operational reviews, governance meetings, and business reviews.
  • Identify operational risks and support continuous improvement initiatives.
