CVS is seeking an operational excellence analyst for our Lumberton, NJ AutoStore CW location. This role is responsible for being a key member of the site team to drive projects, culture, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and automation performance. The Analyst will support site leadership by identifying and executing opportunities that optimize operational performance through Lean methodologies, process engineering, data analytics, and project management. The role will act as a key liaison between Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Automation, Inventory Control, and Network Optimization teams to deliver sustainable business results. The Analyst will be expected to travel up to 10% to support network initiatives and best practice sharing.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, distribution center, fulfillment, or automated warehouse environment.
  • 1+ years of demonstrated success and experience in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Operational excellence in manufacturing or warehouse operation
  • 1+ years’ experience with Microsoft Azure Snowflake semantic modelling, SQL, and PowerBI
  • 1 year experience in WMS, ERP, MES, or LMS systems and database structure
  • 1+ years of demonstrated success in managing projects
  • 1 year of leadership experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related engineering/science field; or 1+ years of demonstrated success in Industrial Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Process Engineering, or Operational Excellence within a manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience analyzing automation performance data and implementing continuous improvement initiatives within an automated distribution environment.
  • Experience working with AutoStore or other automated material handling systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Snowflake, SQL, Tableau, or similar analytics and visualization tools.
  • Experience with WMS, LMS, ERP, or MES systems and database structures.
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Green Belt, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience using Lean methodologies including DMAIC, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen facilitation.
  • Certified in standards-based time and motion study systems such as MOST or MTM.
  • Comfortable creating and presenting concepts, recommendations, and results to site leadership and senior management.
  • Experience working within a large, multi-site organization.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for identifying and improving safety at the site using technology, process design, facility layout optimization, improved ergonomics, visual management, and Lean methodologies. Support site teams in identifying hazards and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Responsible for supporting world-class quality through structured problem-solving methodologies, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure operational issues are visible and addressed through effective performance management systems.
  • Responsible for delivering capacity and productivity improvements by identifying and eliminating bottlenecks, increasing storage density, optimizing material flow, and improving operational throughput to meet customer demand. Work closely with operations leaders to improve service levels and execution performance.
  • Serve as a site resource for Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies. Support and lead Kaizen events, standard work development, value stream mapping activities, 5S programs, visual management improvements, tier meeting effectiveness, problem-solving efforts, and mistake-proofing (Poka-Yoke) initiatives. Coach and educate operational teams on Lean principles and continuous improvement practices.
  • Contribute to and lead projects related to data collection, reporting, and analytics. Translate data into actionable business insights that support decision-making and problem-solving. Develop and maintain performance dashboards, reports, traceability tools, and operational metrics utilizing technologies including Power BI, Snowflake, SQL, Excel, and other analytics platforms. Drive informed decision-making through data visualization and performance management systems. Responsible for maintaining standards and data integrity that support operational excellence.
  • Monitor, support, and analyze AutoStore performance metrics including throughput, utilization, downtime, error rates, productivity, and system performance. Identify, prioritize, and lead improvement projects focused on system performance, capacity optimization, reliability, and operational efficiency. Analyze automation performance trends and provide recommendations that improve operational performance and return on automation investments. Support testing, implementation, and continuous improvement activities associated with AutoStore and automated material handling systems.
  • Responsible for planning, managing, and executing multiple projects simultaneously. Utilize project management disciplines to manage risks, dependencies, timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations while ensuring successful project delivery. Develop business cases and support capital and operational improvement initiatives.
  • This individual and team will lead change at the sites and must work collaboratively with stakeholders, manage phase in / phase out of changes, have robust follow through on changes to ensure success. Be able to see opportunities for improvement, put together a financial business case and project plan to initiate the change.
  • Serve as site owner or co-owner of engineered labor standards, ensuring labor standards remain accurate, fair, and aligned with operational requirements. Support configuration and optimization efforts within Labor Management Systems (LMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and related operational applications. Utilize system capabilities to improve labor productivity, reporting, and operational effectiveness.
