Operating Room Technician Per Diem
About The Position
The Operating Room Technician Per Diem works under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse to assist with surgical procedures and related Operating Room activities. The role provides age-specific care across the lifespan, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Under a professional nurse’s direction, the technician functions as a Scrub Assistant during general surgeries, sets up the Operating Room with sterile instruments and surgical supplies, assists with patient skin preparation and draping, and helps care for, prepare, and maintain sterile and unsterile equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Surgical Technical Program, an accredited Practical School of Nursing, equivalent training, or successful completion of an orientation program.
- Ability to work on call under the direction of an RN.
- BLS administration required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with surgical procedures and related Operating Room activities under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse.
- Provide age-specific care to neonates, pediatric patients, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
- Function as a Scrub Assistant during general surgeries under the direction of a professional nurse.
- Set up the Operating Room with sterile instruments and surgical supplies.
- Assist with patient skin preparation and draping.
- Assist with the care, preparation, and maintenance of sterile and unsterile equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Work on call under the direction of an RN.
