About The Position

The Operating Room Technician Per Diem assists with surgical procedures and related Operating Room activities under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse. The role includes providing age-specific care across the lifespan, from neonates through geriatrics, and functioning as a Scrub Assistant during general surgeries under the direction of a professional nurse. The technician sets up the Operating Room with sterile instruments and surgical supplies; assists with patient skin preparation and draping; and helps care for, prepare, and maintain sterile and unsterile equipment, instruments, and supplies. The position requires availability to work on call under the direction of the RN.

Requirements

Graduate of a Surgical Technical Program, an accredited Practical School of Nursing, equivalent training, or successful completion of an orientation program.
Ability to work on call under the direction of the RN.
BLS administration required.

Responsibilities

Assist with surgical procedures and related Operating Room activities under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse.
Provide age-specific care throughout the lifespan, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Function as a Scrub Assistant during general surgeries under the direction of a professional nurse.
Set up the Operating Room with sterile instruments and surgical supplies.
Assist with patient skin preparation and draping.
Assist with the care, preparation, and maintenance of sterile and unsterile equipment, instruments, and supplies.
