About The Position
The Operating Room Scheduler performs scheduling and secretarial duties for the Department of Surgical Services. Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent computer skills
- Good communication skills with the ability to read, write and understand the English language
- Ability to work as a valued team member
- Problem identification and resolution skills
- Effective organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in medical setting preferred
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Schedules surgical procedures in computer, accurately watching for equipment conflicts to include OR, GI Lab, MPR and medical admits
- Responsible for following proctoring protocol for new physicians, physician privileges and suspension lists and notifies Supervisor of any problems with these.
- Communicates with appropriate departments and resources the delays, cancellations, and add-on of surgical cases
- Maintains surgery schedule without conflicts. Prints surgery schedule as needed and distributes to appropriate areas
- Functions as a knowledgeable resource person for scheduling grid application
- Reviews all faxes the night before for accuracy and confirms all codes, diagnosis and authorizations are complete.
