All levels of experience and education will be considered for this posting. The Operating Room Radiologic Technologist operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (x-rays) of the body for diagnostic purposes. This role involves performing routine, portable, operating room or fluoroscope exams, as well as complex radiographic procedures, and providing guidance to lower level Radiologic Technologists and students. Key duties include positioning patients, adjusting equipment for high-quality x-rays, explaining procedures to patients, and taking precautions to minimize radiation exposure for both staff and patients. The technologist assists in training radiology staff and students, participates in radiology quality assurance and improvement activities, and effectively communicates with patients, families, and other healthcare team members to keep them informed and reduce anxiety. The position also involves assuming and providing patient care for radiologic procedures, anticipating potential patient crises, setting up procedure rooms with equipment and supplies, and performing multiple radiologic procedures efficiently. Ensuring patients are prepared for procedures, completing patient care documentation, and processing procedures in the Radiology Information System for billing are also critical. The technologist participates in performance improvement data collection, adheres to all hospital and department safety requirements, and practices radiation protection techniques. This includes using personal protective equipment, operating, mobilizing, and positioning equipment properly, setting exposure factors, and using appropriate techniques and protocols. The role is responsible for the safe operation of radiologic equipment, cleaning equipment, stocking procedure rooms, troubleshooting equipment problems, and advising supervisors of malfunctions.
