About The Position

Blue River Surgery Center is seeking an Operating Room Nurse to provide safe, effective nursing care in an ambulatory surgery center, contributing expertise in the circulating or scrub role. The nurse is responsible for patient care until the patient is transferred to recovery. The center is a new Surgery Ventures Group facility powered by HCA Healthcare, opening in early 2024, with five operating rooms and two specialty procedure rooms. Its specialties include orthopedics, GI, podiatry, general surgery, and vascular surgery.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
At least 1 year of experience in an operating room setting; ambulatory surgery center experience is preferred.
Active RN license as required by the state of employment or appropriate compact licensure.
Valid BCLS certification upon employment; online certification is not acceptable.
ACLS certification if required by the facility.

Nice To Haves

Experience in an ambulatory surgery center.
PALS certification; it may be required at some facilities.
CNOR certification.

Responsibilities

Oversee instrument and equipment setup for the operating room, using preference cards and anticipating surgeons’ needs.
Coordinate and oversee the operating room during a case as the circulator.
Facilitate effective and efficient transitions between surgical procedures.
Use appropriate body mechanics when moving patients to stretchers and operating room tables to prevent injury.
Manage patients’ care and medication, including assisting with anesthesia.
Review charts for completeness in accordance with documentation protocols before and after surgical procedures.
