About The Position

The OR Clinical Manager oversees and facilitates the daily business and operations of the operating room in accordance with policies, procedures, industry standards of practice, JCAHO standards, and the direction of the Surgical Services management team. The manager works with the Charge RN to meet daily staffing needs and coordinate department operations, while overseeing staff and planning and evaluating department activities. The role includes supporting staff selection, orientation, and training; maintaining a safe and secure environment; and performing or assisting with staff performance evaluations, coaching, and counseling. The manager remains visible in the department, oversees the daily surgery schedule, helps solve operational problems, and manages projects assigned by the Director. The role also supports quality and customer service, QAPI projects, and a culture of safety, and manages the department in the Director’s absence.

Responsibilities

Oversee and facilitate the daily business and operations of the operating room in accordance with policies, procedures, industry standards of practice, JCAHO standards, and management direction.
Work with the Charge RN to ensure daily staffing needs are met and coordinate day-to-day department operations.
Oversee staff and plan and evaluate department activities to accomplish department objectives.
Assist with staff selection and oversee the educator’s work on employee orientations and training.
Ensure a safe and secure environment.
Perform or assist with staff performance evaluations, and coach and counsel employees.
Assist staff in operating rooms as needed.
Maintain visibility in the department and oversee the flow of the daily surgery schedule.
Problem-solve during daily department operations and manage projects assigned by the Director.
Maintain quality service and customer service, support QAPI projects, and promote a culture of safety.
Manage the department in the Director’s absence.
