About The Position
Founded in 1961, Dignity Health - Arroyo Grande Community Hospital is a 65-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in Arroyo Grande, California. Serving over 90,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including, emergency care, and orthopedics. As our Operating Engineer, you will independently perform journeyman-level duties, responsible for daily operational issues concerning the energy plant, hospital, and associated equipment/systems. Every day, you will design, construct, install, or maintain building systems and equipment, ensuring safety, functionality, efficiency, and occupant comfort. You will also monitor equipment/system problems and recommend solutions for optimal facility performance. Success in this role requires extensive technical expertise, a strong commitment to safety and efficiency, excellent problem-solving, and autonomous work with high operational standards.
Requirements
- Journeyman Status
- Knowledge and experience in multiple trades
Responsibilities
- Takes hourly water temperature readings.
- Conducts water tests every four hours.
- Makes rounds of hospital building at least twice in the shift.
- Checks engineering logs at each nursing station.
- Performs minor repairs as needed.
- Provides assistance to security section when needed.
