About The Position

The Operating Engineer / Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently moving materials and supporting organization of an outdoor construction materials yard in Sandy Creek, NY. The role involves operating light-duty and heavy-duty forklifts, telehandlers capable of handling materials weighing up to 30,000 lbs., and wheel loaders. Equipment may be operated in extreme weather conditions, including rain, snow, and humidity. The position also uses a company truck to deliver and pick up materials between the yard and jobsites. The role pays $54.00 per hour, with an expected start date in the first week of January 2027. Candidates must provide legal documentation establishing identity and eligibility to work legally in the United States.

Requirements

Certified forklift operator.
Two to four years of experience in a heavy forklift operator role.
High school diploma or GED.
Experience moving and managing materials weighing up to 30,000 lbs.
Experience working outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
Experience in shipping and receiving.
OSHA 30 Certification.
Legal documentation establishing identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Experience in the electrical construction industry.
Experience with ERP inventory management systems.
First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

Follow the company Health & Safety Program to ensure personal and on-site safety.
Operate equipment to safely unload, store, and load large and small electrical construction materials.
Interface effectively with customer representatives on site.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Operate light-duty and heavy-duty forklifts, telehandlers, and wheel loaders.
Conduct daily equipment checks to ensure equipment is in safe working order.
Use a company truck to deliver and pick up materials between the yard and jobsite.
