About The Position

The Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics (DPET) at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is seeking a 12-month fixed-term faculty member for a position as an assistant, associate, or full professor. This role will primarily focus on teaching within the professional Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. The PharmD program is a comprehensive four-year curriculum offered on campuses in Chapel Hill and Asheville, NC, integrating didactic coursework with hands-on experiential learning in patient care. The School has implemented a transformative curriculum since 2015, emphasizing active student engagement, problem-solving, scientific inquiry, and early immersion in patient care. DPET faculty specialize in optimizing drug therapy through research into factors influencing therapeutic agent efficacy in individual patients. Their expertise spans pharmacotherapy, experimental and clinical pharmacology, pharmacometrics, drug toxicity, precision medicine, drug development, education, and practice innovations. Faculty contribute to patient care by advancing therapeutic knowledge through research and by educating future pharmacists and clinical-translational scientists. The division also offers graduate and postdoctoral fellowship programs focused on clinical and translational research within the theme of precision therapeutics, with core research areas including translational & quantitative pharmacology, experimental therapeutics & genomics, and precision pharmacotherapy. This specific position will be dedicated to PharmD teaching in pharmacotherapy, with no specific therapeutic area targeted. The ideal candidate will possess training and expertise in special patient populations, clinical pharmacokinetics, and/or precision medicine/pharmacogenomics, and demonstrate the ability and desire to teach therapeutics across various areas. Teaching responsibilities will be determined by the needs of the PharmD program and the faculty member's expertise and interests. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will contribute to research and scholarship, professional service, and potentially patient care, with effort allocation tailored to individual goals. Opportunities for mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are also available.
