This full-time, Non tenure-track, 12-month position will serve as the Physiology Thread Leader (equivalent to a Course Director at other institutions) and will participate in multiple M1 courses. DUCOM’s integrated Foundations and Frontiers curriculum prepares medical students to provide humanistic care to a diverse population as an integral member of a healthcare team. The 18-month Foundations phase includes multidisciplinary, integrated basic and clinical science courses that utilize a combination of technology-enhanced instructional formats to deliver course content as well as in-class team-centered instructional activities that extend and apply knowledge to clinical problems. Successful applicants must have a terminal degree in Physiology or a related discipline, preferably with multidisciplinary experience. The successful applicant will work as part of a team of educators from basic and clinical science disciplines as part of an innovative and integrated medical education curriculum that includes teaching opportunities in high-fidelity simulations, small group, and large group settings, as well as facilitating in our small group Case-Based Learning course. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to actively engage in professional development, provide service to the Institution, and engage in scholarly activity in medical education. With over 1,200 medical students, Drexel University College of Medicine has the largest enrollment of any private medical school in the nation and receives over 17,000 applications yearly. We have two campuses: the Philadelphia campus, with ~270 students in each cases year, and our Tower Health/West Reading campus, with ~40 students per class year. Preclinical education in Reading (PA) takes place at the new state-of-the-art Drexel/Tower Health building in the West Reading Campus. The position can be filled at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor commensurate with the applicant’s experience and accomplishments in medical education. The successful applicant will report to both the Chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology and to the West Reading Campus Regional Dean.
