About The Position

The Department of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine is seeking highly qualified individuals for tenure-earning and tenured positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, and full Professor. These positions have a strong focus on imaging-related research, specifically in Molecular Imaging & Theranostics, Radiation Biology, and Targeted Radiotherapy. The ideal candidates will hold an MD, PhD, or MD, PhD, possess a collaborative spirit, and have a clear research vision. They will be expected to mentor trainees and secure funding from sources such as NIH, federal agencies, foundations, and industry. UAB Radiology boasts a growing research program with advanced infrastructure, including a TR24 cyclotron, GE TOF PET/MRI, GE Omni 32 PET/CT, and small animal imaging capabilities. Recent investments in PET and SPECT/CT systems further enhance imaging capacity. Successful candidates will be committed to developing externally funded research programs, teaching excellence at the graduate level, and contributing to university and professional service. The role involves applying innovative approaches to investigate molecular imaging & theranostics, radiation biology, and targeted radiotherapy. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate are essential. Candidates should have a proven research track record and a desire to improve the research and teaching experiences for students. Positions require an earned doctoral degree or equivalent in chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, or a related field. National recognition is required for tenured positions, while tenure-eligible candidates need a strong vision for independent research. Salary will be based on experience. The department collaborates closely with other UAB schools, UAB Hospital, and the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, a nationally recognized NCI-designated cancer center.
