The Center for Sciences at the University of Austin (UATX) invites applications for Computer Science faculty positions at any academic rank: Assistant, Associate, or full Professor. Faculty teach small classes of talented, motivated students and typically carry an annual teaching load of 18 quarter hours, including courses across all class levels. They teach within their specialty in upper-division courses and may teach more broadly in related areas in lower-division courses. Faculty contribute research or creative work, evaluated for intellectual significance and practical, constructive impact on the human condition. Work may include traditional journal and conference publications as well as outward-facing projects with startups and larger firms. Faculty also help design and build an innovative alternative to traditional higher education. The Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Concentration prepares students for entrepreneurship, professional work, or graduate study. Its curriculum combines traditional computer science concepts with modern AI-enabled software development; students may also focus on current AI, including the mathematical theory and practical applications of deep learning. The anticipated start date is Fall 2027. UATX offers competitive compensation commensurate with rank, comprehensive benefits, and a research stipend. Faculty appointments are long-term academic appointments supported by renewable five-year contracts; the University does not use a traditional tenure system. Part-time appointments will be considered, and applicants interested in part-time work should indicate this in their cover letter. Applications should include a CV and cover letter describing the candidate’s interest, relevant teaching and research experience, and alignment with UATX’s mission. Review begins immediately, with priority review for applications submitted by January 4, 2027. Further-review candidates may be asked for writing samples, references, and/or a teaching portfolio.
