The Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the School of Public Health (SOPH) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an outstanding open rank (tenure track or tenured) faculty member. The ideal candidate will have research interests in environmental and occupational safety and health, and a commitment to a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment. The position involves developing an extramurally funded research portfolio, teaching graduate-level courses, advising master’s and doctoral students, and contributing to departmental and university service. Collaboration with the Deep South Center for Occupational Health and Safety (DSC) at UAB, a NIOSH-funded Education and Research Center, is expected. Specific research areas may include assessing occupational exposures to chemical and physical agents, evaluating their health effects, and developing/implementing control methods or biomarkers. The ability to foster interdisciplinary collaborations with local and regional industries is highly valued.
