About The Position

We are hiring a Biostatistician (Full-time) to join the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Houston. In this role, you will collaborate with investigators to determine study design, contribute to protocol development, and write statistical analysis plans. Develop code to analyze data using statistical software and to perform advanced statistical modeling. Experience with Bayesian spatiotemporal models and machine learning methods is preferred. Position Summary: Provides advanced statistical and data science support for multidisciplinary research using large and complex datasets. Collaborates with investigators on study design, statistical methodology, data analysis, and dissemination of research findings.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in related health science required
  • 2 years of statistician experience required
  • Experience in data analysis of large administrative datasets (claims, registries, EMR) and observational studies required
  • SAS experienced preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate Degree - PhD preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistical modeling, spatial and temporal data analysis, and reproducible research practices, preferred.
  • Experience with Bayesian spatiotemporal models and machine learning methods is preferred.
  • Experience analyzing large and complex datasets (e.g., raster, geospatial, or observational data) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with investigators to determine study design, contribute to protocol development, and develop statistical analysis plans.
  • Supports data management, database maintenance, and quality assurance for operational and research projects.
  • Develops systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for monitoring data quality across multiple datasets.
  • Develops programming code and reproducible workflows for statistical analyses using R, Python, and related software.
  • Performs advanced statistical analyses, including linear and generalized linear models, longitudinal, spatial, temporal, and Bayesian spatiotemporal modeling. Experience with machine learning methods is preferred.
  • Develops and presents statistical results, including tables, figures, and visualizations, for internal reports, grant applications, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Presents findings to investigators, institutional committees, and other stakeholders.
  • Conducts literature reviews and contributes to scientific manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Assists in mentoring graduate student assistants and other research personnel, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
