The Onsite Sub/Administrative Support role is crucial for maintaining the smooth operation of Stella Elementary Charter Academy, serving as a primary substitute teacher and providing essential administrative assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • CA 30 Day Emergency Substitute Credential required

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of either Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) certificate; Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD) certificate; Bilingual Certificate of Competence (BCC); or Language Development Specialist (LDS) certificate
  • Bilingual Spanish or Korean (highly desired)
  • Two years of urban teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary substitute for all teachers at the school site, managing student behavior and ensuring engagement in learning.
  • Uphold Bright Star Schools’ mission and values, demonstrating care for students and promoting high standards of behavior.
  • Collaborate with school leaders, providing input to improve programs and actively participating in professional development.
  • Communicate professionally with peers, supervisors, parents, and students.
  • Commit to a longer school day and calendar year, adhering to professional attire guidelines.
  • Supervise bathroom breaks and participate in rotating detention supervision.
  • Uphold attendance procedures using School Information Systems (SIS).
  • Enthusiastically participate in school-wide culture events.
  • Adhere to Bright Star curriculum maps and guidelines, creating weekly lesson plans aligned to California State and Common Core standards.
  • Differentiate lesson plans for diverse learners and implement feedback from administrators.
  • Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment and implement Bright Star’s Expected School Learning Results.
  • Support instruction with school-wide supplemental programs.
  • Maintain grade books and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Communicate with families regarding student academics and behavior.
  • Collaborate with the Special Education Team.
  • Use planning periods for student academic advancement and tutor students needing remediation.
  • Support in the collection and maintenance of applications for admission, cumulative records, and other documents, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Enter student enrollment data and update student records using the school's management software.
  • Ensure the school's physical environment is neat and orderly.
  • Translate as needed in oral and/or written form.
  • Attend student Individualized Education Plan meetings as an admin designee.
  • Support student in-school suspension days as the teacher on record.
  • Support with before and afterschool supervision.
  • Support with Independent Study as needed.
  • Support teacher grading for long-term in-house subbing assignments.
  • Support document creation and distribution for school-wide events and initiatives.
  • Assist the Dean of Operations with planning and preparing for school events and activities.
  • Perform all duties designated by the Dean of Operations for the school's successful functioning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
