About The Position

The Onsite Safety Professional is responsible for supporting workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and injury prevention efforts on assigned projects and facilities. This position works closely with management, supervisors, employees, subcontractors, and customers to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and promote a proactive safety culture. The onsite Safety Professional conducts inspections, audits, observations, toolbox talks, incident investigations, and compliance activities to ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The position serves as a resource to operations by providing guidance, coaching, and support to reduce risk and prevent workplace injuries, illnesses, and property damage.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of direct experience in occupational safety, construction, fabrication, industrial operations, manufacturing, or related work environments.
  • Relevant experience may be obtained through roles such as Skilled Worker, Foreman, Superintendent, Site Supervisor, or similar positions.
  • Working knowledge of applicable safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively support safety compliance in dynamic work environments.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry / Construction Certification.
  • Demonstrated competency in fall protection, confined space, heavy equipment operations, and other applicable construction safety practices.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet customer-specific site requirements.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to walk extended distances throughout construction sites, fabrication shops, industrial facilities, and uneven terrain for the duration of the workday.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolds, and elevated work platforms, including heights exceeding 50 feet when required.
  • Ability to use tools, measuring devices, tablets, computers, and other equipment necessary to perform inspections and documentation.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform site observations for extended periods during 8 hour work shifts.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and tolerate exposure to heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, noise, vibration, and other environmental conditions while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to identify workplace hazards, read safety documentation, recognize warning signals, and communicate effectively with employees and supervisors.
  • Ability to maintain stability while working on elevated platforms, ladders, uneven surfaces, and active construction or industrial sites.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to conduct and coordinate safety training programs and effectively communicate safety expectations.
  • Strong observational skills to identify hazards and evaluate workplace risks.
  • Proficiency in safety management software, Microsoft Office applications, and electronic reporting systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with management, supervisors, employees, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Board of Certified Safety Professionals certification(s), such as: Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
  • OSHA 510/ 511 and/or OSHA 500.
  • Competent Person training (e.g., Fall Protection, Excavation, Scaffolding, or Confined Space).
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and safety training in construction or industrial environments.
  • Continuing education is encouraged to maintain current knowledge of safety regulations, industry standards, and emerging best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, customer requirements, OSHA, ADOSH, Cal/OSHA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Conduct daily site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety observations to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions, imminent hazards, or unsafe work practices are identified.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective guidance to employees and subcontractors regarding safe work practices.
  • Assist management and supervision with hazard identification, risk assessment, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine audits of work areas, equipment, tools, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cranes, rigging, fall protection systems, and other site operations.
  • Participate in pre-task planning activities and review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), permits, and other safety documentation.
  • Conduct incident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations and assist in determining root causes and corrective actions.
  • Track corrective actions to completion and verify the effectiveness of implemented controls.
  • Facilitate safety orientations, toolbox talks, stand-downs, and regulatory compliance training.
  • Maintain required documentation including inspections, observations, audits, training records, incident reports, corrective actions, and safety metrics.
  • Monitor employees use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with established safety requirements.
  • Promote employee engagement and participation in safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Site Safety Manager, Corporate Safety, Safety Director, or Company Executives.
