About The Position

Performs cleaning, organizing and other housekeeping functions on buildings, equipment, facilities, and grounds. Responsible for the care and upkeep of buildings and grounds for the entire community. This position involves a combination of indoor and outdoor work in various environmental conditions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in general grounds or buildings maintenance.
  • General knowledge of drywall repair, painting, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry trades.
  • Must be able to operate tools and equipment related to facility maintenance.
  • Must be able to work in small and confined spaces for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, and delays.
  • Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances.
  • Must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.
  • Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice.
  • Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb several flights of stairs if necessary.
  • Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard.

  • Technical background from university or vocational sources is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service to homeowners, residents, and staff.
  • Responsible for the care and upkeep of buildings and grounds for the entire community.
  • Ensures spaces are ready for the next day by taking out trash, tidying, rearranging furniture, and wiping surfaces.
  • Sweeps and mops floors, and vacuums carpets.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all bathroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, and showers.
  • Restocks necessary items such as soap and paper products.
  • Cleans mirrors and windows.
  • Monitors contractors to ensure they follow building policies and guidelines.
  • Walks around the exterior of the facility daily to identify any conditions needing attention or maintenance.
  • Performs basic maintenance work and minor repairs, such as replacing broken switches, repairing door handles, and replacing lightbulbs.
  • Reports major damages to management and oversees repairs if requested.
  • Undertakes occasional seasonal tasks such as shoveling snow.
  • Complies with all safety procedures and requirements.
  • Maintains Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) records for all materials used on the property.
  • Performs other tasks as requested.
