About The Position

Labcorp is seeking an Onsite Lab Support Clerk to join its team at a client office in Chicago, Illinois. The position performs clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment. The clerk prepares specimens for testing, handles specimen and customer issues, and ensures samples and related information are accurate and ready for processing.

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The pay range is $17.75 to $22.00 per hour, with eligibility for a second-shift differential.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in laboratory work, accessioning, data entry, or manufacturing.
• Comfortable handling biological specimens.
• Ability to accurately identify specimens.
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1 year of medical or patient-facing healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Communicate effectively with client office staff.
• Research, troubleshoot, and resolve customer and specimen problems.
• Meet department activity and production goals.
• Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Accurately identify and label specimens.
• Pack and ship specimens to the appropriate testing facilities.
• Review requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and update missing items.
• Perform spinning, freezing, splitting, and other special services as needed based on client requirements.
• Perform clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in an onsite, high-throughput environment.
